since 1921, only 8 pitchers in baseball history have at least 200 innings pitched with a WHIP under 1. and 6 of them are pitching today. kind of amazing.

Rivera is not one of them, he just misses. In fact, of the 13 best WHIP listed from 1921-2013, 11 are on active rosters right now.

This is an age of the specialty reliever who is lights out for 1 inning. Koji Uehara has a career WHIP of 0.844, with Craig Kimbrel a somewhat distant second at 0.890 WHIP.

Matt Harvey's the most impressive one on that list to me since he's the only full-time starter there.
