I been doing this almost 10 years

September 26, 2012 at 08:45PM View BBCode

Some of us have been active on the site for 10 years, some, like myself, are fast approaching it.
Looking back on these ten years I?ve:

Checked my teams in 11-different countries.

Was blessed with two grandchildren

Had a near fatal industrial accident

Had a heart attack

Found that I like Susi if you smear enough of that green-stuff on it.

Bought a new truck.

Acquired six goats, turned them into 23 goats and I keep getting better at making Cabrito every day.

I?m sure everyone has life experience that ran parallel to playing SD and I hope they?re all good ones.
But let me get to the point.

What I propose is some-kind of tribute to us hopeless SD addicts who have been active for 10-years.
I don?t have a clue what form that should take. Maybe a simple post or an E-trophy next to you name. I don?t know.

Me personally, I?d like a sticker for my hardhat. That would be cool.

Yeah man. Sticking with anything 10 years is an accomplishment especially to a baseball sim that came out in the early two thousands. I have come back over the years and had various single season teams but just could never justify spending the needed time on this game that was required to be among the best. I think my private league experience was july of 04 to sometime in 2007.

There are just too many good mmo's/rpg/shooter games out there that grabbed my attention. So being active in this game is really quite an accomplishment given how fast computer games/online games have evolved over the past 10 years. Well done sir.

I've been here for nearly that long (I don't remember exactly how long it is, but this username was registered about a year after my true "start date").

I have graduated from college.

Gotten married.

Lived in 4 different cities and worked almost a dozen different jobs. (Been with my current one for over 3 years, I'm not a hopeless job-hopper!)

Now have three children.

Have bought a house.

Started grad school. Gave up on that adventure.

SimD has been with me through it all. I took an absence from the site for a few months at my wife's request. She thought it took up too much time and attention. Turns out I am really annoying to be around when I don't have a little bit of an outlet for my ADD and OCD tendencies. (I'm not certifiable, but ... let's just say that she is perfectly fine with me being back now.) LOL

Question from a rookie

I only recently took up the game. I was wondering how many teams you would recommend a new guy having.

I have ten. I have five teams that are competitive and five that aren't. I watch over the teams in the races with an eye on doing things that would help the team win and use the other non-competitive teams to try different ways to build a team and try to learn just what players are capable of playing a role on a winning team and which ones should popula waiver wire list.

Do you feel that this is a workable way to learn and improve. I promised myself that when I took over a team

I made only one promise to myself concerning my franchises, and that I would never abandoned it no matter whether it won or finished last.

larry, are all of your teams in trial leagues? because there it doesn't matter, you can have a billion, nobody will care if you abandon it. If you get into pay-leagues, I'd recommend starting with one.

Unrelatedly, it sucks that the OP here no longer owns any teams. 10 years and gone.

yes they are...I might let a few go but I want to get through seasons with certain teams because things have somewhat come into focas a bit.

I have a question.

My teams seem to be full of players with no options. I was trading away minor leaguers and utility guys with no options to enhance mobility from my minors to the majors. ,I noticed as soon as one of my players got to the other team he magically had options.

What gives?

That can't be right, post a link to the player and we'll let you know what's happening.
