DVL Rules

August 31, 2004 at 12:55AM View BBCode

Ok - here they are. Some things to decide but these are pretty standard. Took HAL rules verbatim, except added a minimum number of votes to overturn a trade (8 of 13). Then appended answer to standard rules questionaire.

*PLEASE* review the below and if you do not agree or have serious problem, please do not sign up for league. Specifically, there will be a Trade Challenge rule. I hope it is never used. But if it is, and 8 league owners (out of 13 not involved in deal/challenge), then you need to be willing to accept the results with no problems. Caveat Emptor.

Rules

Here is our current rule structure:

1. Player name changes are permitted but keep it clean. Name changes allowed only in the first season for that player. After that only nicknames can be changed. Please make names at least sound like they could be names of baseball players.

2. There is an August 31st (of the fake date â?? youâ??ll see) trade deadline. Players acquired after that date canâ??t play in the post-season. Doesn't matter if player aquired by waiver or trade. trades and waiver wire transactions must post a date no later than 8/31 to be eligible for post season play. to do so means the transaction needs to occur BEFORE the 8/31 game is played.

3. No roster changes are permitted during the post-season. Exception --- In the event of a pitcher injury in the playoffs a team may promote a player from the minors between series. The owner must complete the next series with the new roster. No changes are allowed during a series.

4. No trades may involve the use of coach points.

5. If an owner doesnâ??t check his team for 2 weeks, their team will be sold to a new owner and their payment will not be refunded. If you will be out of town and unable to check in, just post a message to that effect and this clause will be waived.

6. A team must have minimum of 2 catchers (primary position) on the major league roster at all times unless they have an injured catcher. Even then the starting player inserted into the lineup at catcher must always be a catcher.

7. If somebody challenges a trade the 2 parties have 3 days to state why they made the trade. Then the other 13 teams vote whether the trade stands or is overuled. At least 8 owners must vote to overturn (out of 13).

Bill,

Can you clarify No. 3? How does this affect an injured Major Leaguer (injured during the regular season) who has been placed on the DL and someone from the Minors has been called up. If the injury ends during either the LCS or WS, can that player be activated at that time?

Nope - if he's imjured in regular season you must put him on playoff roster or not use him. This rule was put in to allow for an injury occurring during the playoff (and note you can only make roster move between series).

I didn't see anywhere the cost of the league. Please post IF there is still an opening.
I have played SD since July '02 (see avatar) and currently own 3 teams..Cleveland in the Mickey Mantle, Philly in Cesar Cedano and Chicago (NL) in Cap Anson Leagues.

There is one left. Chicago-AL. Cost of the league is $58.75 and includes prizes in the form of discounts towards renewal.

If not reserved for anyone, I would like the opportunity to take this team.

The prize for each season is total wins:

win (1st) gets 60% off renewal, place (2nd) gets 30% off, and show (3rd) gets 10% off.
